　　Different from the tradition that mothers were responsible for the household chores, nowadays more women become the family breadwinners while men work as the housework undertakers. There seems to be several factors contributing to the role shift, and I believe that it is a positive change for the family.

　　The two main reasons lie in the social and domestic factors. From the social aspect, the transformation of the social ideas and the advanced technology provide increasing number of job opportunities for women. On one hand, the equal access to education for both genders equips the female with coequal competitiveness in the workplace. On the other hand, the automation, which has released most of the workforce in the manual work, enables women to take over half of the job market. Correspondingly, women gain increasing financial independence. Once the males lose competitiveness or fail to regain the employment, their spouses have to shoulder the domestic financial support.

　　So beneficial does the innovative family pattern bring to the both financial stability of the family and upbringing of the offspring. Undoubtedly, the role shift can release the financial burden in some cases. If the mothers are of stronger working capacity, it makes more financial sense for the mothers to take the full-time work while the fathers serve as househusbands. Besides the family reason, fatherly care and cultivation are more likely to bring a positive outcome on children’s maturity. Experts believed that a rational and open-minded father always leave an incomparably profound impact on the formation of children’s personalities and cognition to the world. Spending more time with fathers, the kids tend to have an objective judgment on the outer world, for example.

　　In conclusion, the society has been witnessing the inevitable change on the gender roles as a result of social progress and financial pressure. Such advantageous to stabilize the family and nourish the children.
