　　In modern-day society, university has long been viewed as the palace of knowledge where students are encouraged to learn and explore. Some argue that students had better pay their attention to one area rather than scatter their focus on different subjects; however, I wholeheartedly disagree with this proposition. It is wrong to believe specializing on only one subject is beneficial to students. Some claim otherwise because they believe full dedication to one area may contribute to students’ future career success by providing them more employable skills. However, it is my belief that students doing research in one area may lack of a full view, which is fairly important to their work. In fact, almost all subjects are inextricably linked; knowledge accumulated on only one branch will restrict the development of their thinking pattern.

　　Moreover, learning different subjects can also generate a number of benefits chief among them enabling students to be more knowledgeable. For example, it is common that students often pick up some selective courses, such as Astronomy or Archeology in university, which not only ignites their curiosity towards the world, but also makes them more charming and funny because they often can have things talking about with their friends. In addition,  niversity students can be more competitive in the graduate job market if they have a track record of learning other subjects because possessing varioustypes of skills may help them win in this intensive world; otherwise, a weaker  storage of knowledge often narrows their career path.

　　In conclusion, there is no question that university students should be motivated to learn a wider range of subjects due to the merits in helping students form an overall view and developing their outlook and competitiveness.
