E: Do you plan to live there for a long time?
C: I'm going to live there until I go abroad. And I suppose I will live in this house for a year or two after I come back to China, you know, until I can afford an apartment by myself.
E: Do you prefer living in a house or a flat?
C: Given the choice, I like house more than apartment. There are more rooms in villa, and I can get larger space. I can have my own garage and play music as loud as I want not worry about disturbing the neighbors.
E: What’s the difference between where you are living now and where you have lived in the past?
C: Actually, several months ago, I lived in a 3-bedroom flat in Feng Tai district near 3rd ring road which was far away from my work place while later, I moved into a studio where it’s just 5-min walk from my office which it’s so convenient for me.

E: What do you think makes good friends?
C: As far as I’m concerned, many factors make good friends. The first one that comes to mind is that goods friends have a lot in common. Those who share similar interests can become great gals/pals. Another thing is that those who are trustworthy. You know, no matter what or whenever you need them, they will be there. I think he fulfils the definition of “a friend in need is a friend indeed”.
E: Do you keep in contact with friends from your childhood?
C: I am sorry that I have to say no. I talk to those who grew up in the same neighborhood with me once in a blue moon, for the simple reason that two decades ago, there was no social networking app and I lost their phone number and any other type of contracts. Also, we live far away from each other, and Long-distance communication can cause misunderstandings and resentments to build up. That’s why I don't keep frequent contract with them.
E: What kinds of people do you like to make friends with?
C: I love to make friends who is highly respected in some fields but hide his light under a bushel. I also love to make friends with those who are easy-going and broad-minded.

C: I believe so. Frankly speaking, I have never kept a secret from my best friend, and I can say the same for him. I bend over backwards to help my friends with their difficulties and obstacles. I hope they can trust me with their life. I can say that I have always been there for them.
5. Movies
E: What’s your favorite movie?
C: I love watching movies! They really take you to another world. Plus, it can be really fun to just kick back and relax with your friends and put a movie on to watch together. I especially like romances; even though they’re cheesy, they’re pretty sweet. After all, everyone wants to live happily ever after.
E: Do your friends like this movie?
C: I love romantic comedies. They’re funny and they always have a really cute love story. I don’t mind if they’re cheesy; I just like seeing people have a happy ending. It’s a great way for me to wind down and think about someone else’s life for a while, even if they’re not even real.
E: What kinds of movies do you think young people like?

C: Actually, I prefer to watch movies at home. Maybe I am too lazy. When watching movies at home, I can eat any kinds of snacks, not only the popcorn and coco-cola. Also, I can pause the movie if something interrupts and then continue when I am back. What is the most important, if I find the movie is terrible, I can just stop it, but in cinema, it will be impolite to leave halfway.
6. Language
E: Will you learn other languages in the future?
A language I would like to learn is Spanish. It’s used not only in Spain but also in many other countries, and I believe it’s one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. So, it’s a language that is definitely worth knowing. It would be useful to me for business purposes. Also, Spanish culture is becoming more and more influential internationally. It is, for example, overtaking English as the most widely spoken language in certain parts of the USA. It is influencing music and art. So, all in all, I think it’s a handy language to know.
E: Do you think it’s difficult to learn a new language?
I doubt it would be too challenging for me to learn Spanish because it is a Latin language, just like my mother tongue, French. I think Spanish vocabulary would be easier for me to acquire than Spanish grammar. I understand the grammar is one of the most difficult things about the Spanish language.
E: What languages can you speak?
C: I can speak Chinese fluently since it’s my mother tongue. Plus, I have learnt English for about 15 years. If possible, I hope I can learn some other languages in the near future.
E: Why do you learn English?
C: There are many reasons. For starters, English has long been a lingua franca for many years. I bet I would have a good career prospect in the future if I can speak English, especially in an English-speaking country. Even if it is not in English-speaking countries, speaking English has long been widely used as an essential skill to communicate. Being able to speak English allows me to make friends from all walks of life and from different cultural backgrounds throughout the world.
7. Animals
E: Have you ever kept pets?
C: Absolutely, I have. However, keeping a pet can be troublesome. It is time-consuming. You have to feed them, as well as play with them. All of this needs time and money. I would suggest that one should give it a second thought before deciding to keep a pet. I thought keeping a dog was going to be easy. I never thought that I would need to take my dog for vaccinations every month for six months.
E: Do you like to go to the zoo?
C: For sure. The experience of visiting the zoo is simulating. It is a good way for me to have access to the Great Outdoors, which feels great!

C: I have seen many wild animals before such as Manchurian tigers, Snub-nosed monkeys, Chinese sturgeon, pandas, and just to name a few.
E: What wild animal do you like most?
C: The animal I would like to talk about is the golden monkey, or snub-nosed money. Biologists say that this genius species is rare. These moneys get their name from the short stump of a nose on their round faces, with nostrils arranged forward. These cute, docile little monkeys would play a trick on me without a second thought, but the grace that goes with that intelligence is what truly attract me.
8. Voice
E: Has your voice ever changed?
C: Yes, I think so. Just like others, my voice has experienced a natural change during the process of growing up. I mean, when I get older, it has become more mature and less piercing than before. When I call somebody, he or she can immediately recognize that I am a grown-up instead of a child.
E: Do you enjoy recording your voice and listening to it?
C: No, I have never done that. Actually, I think it is a bit weird. I am not a singer or an orator, who lives on his or her voice and thus has the need to check it constantly in order to perfect it or see if anything goes wrong. As a normal person, I simply do not care so much about how I sound.
E: Do you like your own voice?
C: I have never thought about this question. For me, voice is a quality that I was born with and I accept it just like I accept my arms and legs. It is a part of who I am. Like it or not, I still need to live with it. So, I think my attitude towards it is neutral.
E: Does your voice should similar to your parents’?
C: I do not think so. We actually sound quite different. As a boy who has gone through the puberty, my voice cracks compared to my mother’s. In terms of my father, he is much older than me. The muscle of his vocal cords has loosened up, which makes his voice sounds a little thicker than me.

E: Do you wear jeans?
C: Yes, they are my favorite. The reason why I love jeans is that I feel that they are the trendiest kind of trousers, which somewhat makes me feel confident among my friends. Also, they are very durable. I don’t have to worry that it will be worn out easily.
E: Why do you think jeans are popular?
C: Well, I guess the main reason why jeans are favored by most people is that they are really durable, which is cost-effective for most consumers. Also, it seems that jeans generally have good styles. People of all walks find them suitable to wear on most occasions.
10. Haircut
E: Have you ever had an unhappy haircut experience?
C: Well, yeah, I’d say the chance for me to have an unhappy haircut experience is probably around 50-50. I’m a bit near-sighted so most of the time, I don’t really know what the barber’s doing with my hair and once the job is done, it can really go either way: being perfectly satisfactory or a complete nightmare.
E: How long have you had your current haircut?
C: It’s been a while since the last time I had a current, so around three months. I’m still on the fence about whether or not I should pay a visit to the barber’s because honestly, I don’t put too much thought on my hairstyle.
E: Do you like having your hair cut?
Not really. On the one hand, I feel a bit self-conscious when I stare into the mirror with someone there fumbling my hair. Plus, I hate it when barbers attempt to initiate a conversation with me. I’m not good at making small talks.

Certainly, you still have any other options, explore and discover the city life, it usually brings you with a lot of surprises.
E: Do you walk more often than in the past?
C: I’m afraid not. In the past, my flat was near my workplace. So, I usually went to there on foot while currently I have to take subway or taxi to get there due to its long distance.
E: Do you walk a lot?
To tell the truth, I am a so called “coach potato” who opts for a staycation when I have leisure time rather than doing some kinesthetic activities like jogging, walking or working out my body in the gym, since I suppose it is a waste of my energy and actually I could get more pleasure from staying alone at home.
E: Do you think people will walk more in the future?
C: I don’t think so. I believe more and more vehicles will be innovated in the future. People may have more choice to get to the destination rather than on foot.

E: It’s hard to say. I prefer to eat some low-salt, non-fat food to have a good shape. However, these kinds of food usually tastes bad.
E: Do you eat out a lot?
E: Actually I usually ask for delivery since after work, I always feel too exhausted to cook for myself or eat outside. Compared with eating out, takeaway may be more convenient for me.
E: Do you prefer eating at home or at a restaurant?
E: I prefer eating at home since the food in a restaurant may be not fresh. I usually heard some news reported the sanitary problems in restaurants. Cooking by myself would be better and healthier.

E: What things make you tired?
Something’s boring, I think. If I had no interest in something, like basketball, these things for me can bore me to death.

I may find something interesting, like listening to some rhythmic music like rock music which can make me feel more energetic.
E: Who do you prefer to talk to when you feel mentally tired, your friends or your families?
I usually deal with it by myself. Just like what I said before, I’d like to listen to some music or just have a good sleep. All these can help me to have full of energy again.
E: Do you want to talk to strangers when you feel mentally tired?
It depends. If they just ask me for some help, like the direction, I will try my best to help them. However, if there is a man persuading me to buy something, I think I’ll just say thank you and then ignore him or her.

E: Have you ever lived in the countryside?
C: I’d like to talk with senior people since they usually share some profound ideas with me. Once upon a time, I talked with an old man with decent job and high social status, I asked him “what would you do after your retirement?” He said he would move to the countryside to spend the rest of his life and provided the reasons as below: First, the living expenditure is lower than that cost in the city center. Second, almost all the people pursue rural life for fresh air...Last but not the least, the quiet and natural atmosphere in the countryside could help to cultivate our temperament and keep mentally enjoyable.
E: What do you usually do in the countryside?
To be honest, it was very difficult for me to fuse myself into the countryside life, but sometimes I observed the local culture silently and found that the self-sufficient farmers sold their agricultural products in the open-air public market in the earlier morning; plus the elderly got together to play a sort of popular folk dance named Yangko in the evening which is a typical entertainment in countryside of China.
E: Do you enjoy living in the countryside?

We can look for those with similar hobbies and interests so that there are more topics of common interests. It’s hard to tell whether a person is genuine or trustworthy without seeing them in person. Some people are cheated online, so we have to be really cautious about revealing personal information to people online at first. E: Do you read electronic books?
C: I love eBooks. Mostly because I can keep all my books on one device and not have to tote everything around. However, there is a clear pricing problem surrounding eBooks. Publishers cannot expect people to pay the same price for a book and an eBook. Currently, many top-selling books are priced the same. Economically speaking, the cost of every eBook (except the very first copy) is zero. People will (and should) be willing to pay a couple dollars per book but expecting that people with pay full price is ludicrous and will only spur piracy. If eBook companies want to be successful, they will recognize that pricing will play a large part in their success and act accordingly.

C: For me, I usually stay at home and lay on my bad to have a rest. Coz after a whole weeks’ work, I often feel so exhausted. That is the best way for me to release the stress.
28. Plan
E: What is the hardest part about making plans?
C: Being realistic is the prerequisite when making a plan. By that I mean, a person has to draw up a plan based on his/her specific situations such as the time available; the mission that can be achieved as well as the frequency of the task, etc. otherwise, the plan will end up becoming another disappointment for the planner.
E: What is the latest plan you made?
C: In fact, I am not a good time organizer. I prefer doing things based on my mood or out of necessity. If something is urgent, I will give priority to that.
E: Do you make plans every day?
C: Honestly, I only make plans when I have to. Whenever exams are coming along, or deadlines are approaches, it is the time for me to burn the night oil and stick to my studies. I will draw a complicated plan ranging from when to get up, to where to have dinner, etc.
E: Are you good at managing your time?
C: Well, in most cases, I am not a good time organizer. I prefer doing things based on my mood or out of necessity. If something is urgent, I will give priority to that.
29. Borrowing/lending
E: How do you feel when people don’t return things they borrowed from you?
C: I’ll kindly remind them to return the things. This works on most occasions due to the fact that they may just forget to give them back. However, there may be cases where people keep the things they’ve borrowed deliberately / on purpose. I would try to talk to them in person. If they refuse to return the things for no reason, they lost my trust and I’ll never befriend with them anymore.
E: Do you like to lend things to others?
C: Sure, I’m kind-hearted and generous. I often lend things to others for the reason that it makes me feel I’m a contributing member. Moreover, I believe that if I do others a good turn, they’ll return the favor when I’m in need of help. OR It depends on who they are and what they borrow. If he’s a close friend of mine or if someone wants to borrow small stuff like stationery, I’ll never say no. However, if I’m unfamiliar with him or if someone asks for valuable things, I may be reluctant to lend them. OR Not really. There are cases where people break the things when they use them. There’re also people who don’t return the things they’ve borrowed. I don’t want these to happen, so I seldom lend things to others.
E: Have you ever borrowed money from others?
C: Sure. I lent some money to my bestie last week since her phone was power-off which means she couldn’t use Ali pay to pay the bill in a shoes shop. I paid it for her and she returned the money back several days ago.
E: Have you borrowed books from others?
C: I borrowed some fairy tales from my classmate when I was in a primary school since my mom didn’t allow me to buy these books. She thought they were not that practical.
30. Visit relatives
E: What do you do when visiting relatives?
C: For me, I am really fond of chatting with my families, the stuffs like working issues or life topics. Truth to be told, we do not often do the normal family things, something like going shopping or watching TV together. We are more like sitting around the table and chew the fat in our spare time.
E: Why do people visit their relatives?
C: Oh, I love this question, because for me, staying with my family is the cosiest thing in my life. The reason is very simple, I do not need to wear suit or formal clothes like going to work when I am staying with my family, right? And I can talk or even complain everything to my families, whatever from my work or friends. So, staying with my family is more like doing a massage or refreshment for my mind.
E: When was the last time you visited a relative?
C: I remember that it was before the last summer vacation. You know, as a teacher, summer holiday should be the busiest time during the year, so I seldom have the spare time to go somewhere during that vacation. That means, I usually go somewhere like visiting relatives or traveling before the summer vacations. And it was a very clear memory that I bought a gift for my grandma when I went back to visit her last year. She was really over the moon when she received that gift, and to be honest, that was the first present I have ever given to her.
E: Do you often visit your relatives?
C: Actually, it is not often, because my hometown is not Beijing, and I have my own family here, I may back to my hometown twice a year. So, visiting my relative is a kind of extravagant thing for me because of the long distance. But, fortunately, I usually spend more time to chat with them on WeChat or talk with them on the phone as much as possible.
31. Smile
E: Can you recognize a fake smile?
C: I’m not a very sensitive, which means, basically, I can’t tell whether someone’s smile is fake or not.
E: Do you smile when people take pictures of you?
C: Yes I’m a girl who likes to smile. It is not only just because of my naturel, but also I have believed a friendly smile may leave other person a good impression.
E: When do people smile at others?
C: People may smile on many occasions for different purposes. However, most people show their politeness through smile when they greet people, although sometimes people smile just because of their Optimistic nature.
E: Do you like to smile?
C: Yes I’m a girl who likes to smile. It is not only just because of my naturel, but also I have believed a friendly smile may leave other person a good impression.
32. Travel
E: What kind of cities do you like to travel to?
C: I prefer to travel some coastal cities where I can enjoy the splendid sunrise and sunset near the seaside. What’s more, I can also do some water sport as well, like surfing.
E: Do you like travelling?
C: Sure. I’m the big fan of travelling. These years, I’ve been to many overseas countries, like Thailand, Japan and Korea. If possible, I hope I can earn more money to travel abroad with my parents and experience different lifestyle.
E: Which cities have you travelled to?
C: These years, I’ve been to many overseas countries, like Thailand, Japan and Korea. If possible, I hope I can earn more money to travel abroad with my parents and experience different lifestyle.
E: What is the place that left you the deepest impression when travelling?
C: I think it’s San Ya. What impressed me most was that I enjoyed the spectacular landscape of sunrise laying on the beach with my parents.
33. Garbage
E: Do you think your city is clean or not?
C: Definitely. A clean environment is helpful to people’s physical and mental health, even the relationship between neighbors. Everyone should be responsible for environmental protection.
E: How do you feel when you see people throwing garbage on the street?
C: I think this is due to their weak sense of environmental protection. Maybe they can’t find a trash can in the street, but this is not an excuse for them to litter.
E: Why do some people throw garbage on the street?
C: Well, generally there are three reasons. Some people are lack of the sense of environmental protection and some cities are not well-developed in environmental equipment. Also, related laws and regulations are not well-legislated enough.
E: What do you do with the garbage when you are on the street?
C: It depends. If the place is extremely clean, I will pick it up and throw it in a nearby garbage bin while if the place is quite dirty, I think I will just let it be.
34. Outdoor
E: Is it important for children to play outdoors?
C: I think it’s necessary. Firstly, the air is fresher especially in a garden. Plus, they can make some new friends in the community which may bring them tons of fun. Some outside activities, like running, are benefit for their health as well.
E: Did you often go to your friends’ house when you were young?
C: I’m afraid not. My parents didn’t allow me to go to other’s flat. So, I usually went back home after school. During the weekend, we usually hung out with each other outside.
E: Did you like to go outside when you were young?
C: I used to go out often to play with my friends when I was in high school. Generally, I would like to do some team activities with my friends, like playing football and playing poker. However, I would occasionally go to a cafe shop, order my favorite Latte and read a book for the whole afternoon. It's always very joyful to spend an afternoon alone.
E: Do you prefer to be indoors or outdoors?
C: Well, I used to go out often to play with my friends when I was in high school. It changed a lot since I came to university. Now what I consider most is to spend more time with my family, as I am far away from my home studying in Beijing, I can only stay with them during winter voca-tion and summer vocation. So when I come home, I prefer to stay at home chatting with my parents or watching TV with them together.
35. Market
E: Are there many street markets in China?
C: Definitely. As a matter of fact, numerous street markets can be found across the country where the public get easy access to a whole bunch of commodities. They include vegetables, meat, snacks and many other kinds of groceries.
E: Do you often go to the supermarket?
C: Well, it depends on what things I am going to purchase. If daily necessities are needed such as vegetables, fruits or other similar commodities, street market will be my priority due to the fresh goods and low price. However, if clothes, shoes, home appliances alike are the goal, I will go to shopping malls where shopping experience is incomparable
E: What are the differences between street markets and supermarkets?
They exceed the counterpart in different aspects. For instance, the environment in shopping mall is better than that in the street market where we may see dirty grounds or rubbish. Nevertheless, the price in street market is much lower and the vegetables are fresher
E: What do street markets sell?
C: It depends. For example, in the snack markets, visitors can try some local food there while in some antique markets, we can find some collections.
