　　02　What the noise was like

　　这个小问题应该是全篇之最难!难点在于词汇不够。既然如此，我们不如先来了解一些和声音有关的单词。

　　【词汇拓展】

　　Blare 发出(响亮而刺耳的声音)

　　– to make a loud and unpleasant noise

　　Eg. Music blared out from the open window. 喧闹的音乐从敞开的窗口传出。

　　Yowl 哭叫;号哭;号啕大哭

　　– a long, loud, unhappy sound or complaint

　　Eg. Suddenly, the cat lets out a heart - rending yowl. 突然，那猫发出一声撕心的嚎叫。

　　Clank (使)发出叮当声，发出当啷声

　　– a short, loud sound

　　Eg. The guard clanked his heavy ring of keys. 看守把他的那串沉甸甸的钥匙弄得叮当响。

　　Crash 碰撞声

　　– a loud sound

　　Eg. Just as i was about to eat my breakfast, I heard a crashing sound coming from the kitchen. 当我要吃早饭时，厨房传来一阵撞击声。

　　Honk 汽车喇叭声

　　– to make a loud noise using a horn, especially the horn of a car

　　Eg. Cars honk their horns in support. 汽车司机鸣笛表示支持。

　　Scream 尖叫;尖锐刺耳的声音

　　– to make a very loud high noise

　　Eg. A piercing scream split the air. 一声刺耳的尖叫划破天空。

　　Squeak 短促而尖厉地叫;吱吱叫;嘎吱作响

　　– to make a short, high noise

　　Eg. The mouse ran away, squeaking with fear. 那只老鼠吓得尖叫着溜了。

　　Wail 发出长而高的声音

　　– to make a long, high sound

　　Eg. Ambulances raced by with sirens wailing. 救护车高声鸣笛疾驰而过。

　　解决了表达之后，我们就可以思考该怎么描述声音了。

　　首先，我们可以从分贝上进行描述。它可以是高分贝的，也可以是低分贝的(持续不断的低分贝也可以形成噪音)。

　　其实，我们还可以从拟声词考虑。比如：猫的叫声有时候听起来像婴儿的啼哭声;孩子的哭声则像羊叫等。

　　接着，我们可以给出声音持续的时长。它可能很长，可能很短。如果短，相信你能忍受;如果长，你可能刚开始能忍受，后面就会忍受不了。

　　如果噪音是混合多种事物的，我们便可一一列举这些噪音是由什么发出来的。

　　Example one:

　　His crying was really loud and relentless 没完没了的. It sounded like a lamb bleating 像羊咩咩叫. At first, I tried to ignore it but it just got worse. After a while, I found myself wide awake 完全清醒 and feeling annoyed.

　　Example two:

　　I could hear them throwing ornaments and furniture around. There was crashing 碰撞声 and banging 巨响 and thumping 砰砰声. They were also screaming 尖叫 and yelling at each other. They stomped around 跺着脚走来走去 from room to room for almost an hour. As I live directly below them, I hear every single thing.

　　Example three:

　　The explosion was like an atomic blast 原子弹爆炸. I had never heard anything like it before. It made my ears ring. Then it went eerily quiet 静得令人害怕 for what seemed like a lifetime. Then all of a sudden it was chaos 嘈杂. You could hear the screaming 尖叫 and crying from all the people working in the factory and then the emergency services arriving with the sirens 警报器 blaring 刺耳得鸣响.
