　　I remember the first time I communicate in foreign language which is English was in grade five. Although I started learning English even earlier, that was the first time I talked to a foreigner.

　　I remember that she was an American lady in her 60s. My friends and I, 3 grade five children were shopping around in Walmart, and in our trolley, there were plenty of candies and chocolates. When we were queuing for checkout, the old lady was standing in front of us. After looking into our shopping cart, she smiled to us and said that too much sweets will cause tooth decay. Although I did not get the word “decay” at the moment, I could roughly guess the meaning as I understand she was talking about teeth. I explained that we will not eat them all today, and also some candies are for my schoolmates. Then we discussed more about candies and dental health until we checked out. After this communication, I was so excited that I can talk to a foreigner adult in a language which is not my mother tongue. Both my friends were extremely impressed as well.

　　That part of experience did influence me a lot later in my life, even now I can remember the details happened on that day. The old lady left a memorable figure to me that she was such a kind person, which made me thought most people in the States are nice to others for a long time. I really appreciate her attitude, since she was the first foreigner I talked with, and she allowed me to confirm that my English is already able to communicate in some cases.
