Why do students need to win some prizes?

The desire to win a prize can inspire students to do their best. When they have the sense of competition, they tend to be more inquisitive, strive to do more than is required and learn to work with others. These abilities prepare them for future situations throughout their lives.

What kind of children can get a prize in school?

It depends on the type of competition. As for the academic prize, children who can do research independently in the spirit of perseverance are more likely to get a prize. While for sports competitions, those who can cooperate and coordinate with team members better and have more courage may get a prize.

What kind of rewards should students gain?

Well, I feel that students should be rewarded for learning, but only in certain forms such as incentives or motivations. The best way to reward a student for learning is through scholarships. But students should never be carried away because of rewards.

Do you think children should get more prizes from academics or sports, why?

I don’t think they should get plenty of prizes from either academics or sports. Indeed, it is true that having a desire for prize motivates children to achieve success. They will show interest and raise their participation in the everyday classroom tasks, responsibilities and learning. But the significance of prize and competition should never be maximized because it tends to exert heavy burdens on children, thus negatively influencing their mental wellbeing.

Should the reward be limited, why?

Of course, the rewards should be limited. On the one hand, excessive rewards may result in the fact that students become addicted to rewards. This means that they won’t work hard anymore without them. On the other hand, unlimited rewards are no surprises any more. They will lose their effect and students will no longer be motivated or inspired to work harder.
