be more productive, boost one’s productivity, improve one’s productivity

  make things more manageable

It seems that we have a million things to do, and most of the time, we don’t know if we can get it all done or we don’t know how to get it all doneefficiently.

  get it all done

Well, I have to sad admit I have a poor memory / have a mind like a sieve so it’s easy for me to forget what needs to be done.

  have a poor memory

  have a mind like a sieve 【习语】记性不好

Sometimes when we get too busy / too occupied, we’re likely to lose track of some loose ends. That’s why many of us tend to jot down the tasks on a memo pad or on a smartphone memo app.

  occupied = busy

lose track of some some loose ends

  a memo pad 便笺条

Some people quite enjoy crossing items off the to-do list cos’ it gives them a sense of progress and makes them feel that they actually accomplishsomething within the set period.

Some people find to-do list useless / meaningless / worthless / pointless.

There's no point (in) doing sth. / I see no point (in) doing sth.

Even if they make a plan, they cannot stick to it because they know they’re lack of perseverance and self-discipline. And there’re thousands of things that may come to disrupt or interrupt them. Then what’s the point of making a to-do list?

  stick to sth. 坚持

be lack of 缺乏(或者直接说lack sth.; 千万别说they’re lack self-discipline哦!)

Still, many are reluctant to plan things or and set a schedule. It’s mainly because they enjoy freedom and can't bear to be constrained by any kind of to-do list. They feel like a robot or a machine that knows nothing but to finish the set tasks one after another, day in day out.

  be reluctant to do 不情愿,不愿意做……

  bear 忍受

  be constrained by ... 被……束缚

  day in day out 天天,日以继夜
