　　People have different views about the effects that modern technology has brought on us. While some people are leading a hectic lifestyle due to the wide use of the Internet, I would argue that advanced technological products bring us more leisure time in general.

　　It is true that many working people are getting busier because of the advancement in Information Technology. Such development has made it easier for employers to contact their employees even beyond working hours, which means that workers may have to scarify their leisure time in order to secure their jobs. Take my cousin as an example. Having been working from home since the outbreak of the pandemic, he finds himself always getting stuck in endless online meetings and numerous unread emails, making him even busier than he used to be.

　　However, I would argue that modern technology allows people to enjoy more free time in recent decades. A typical example is the dishwasher that frees family members from boring chores and enables them to enjoy their favorite TV programs after meals. Similarly, the washing machines and dryers are also valued by modern people since they are really time-saving. With the help of these useful devices, working parents are able to spend more time with their children or sleep for another few hours to refresh themselves. In addition, mobile payment has largely increased the efficiency of transactions. Shoppers no longer need to wait in lines for payment and can save time for other entertainment.

　　In conclusion, although modern technology is driving some people busier, I believe that in general, we have gained more free time because of the invention of useful appliances and digital technologies.
