　　When I have time, I often like to visit places in the city that I've never been to before, especially buildings, because actually, I'm a fan ofmodern architecture（现代建筑）. The building I'm going to tell you about is the Guangzhou Library.

　　I went there last month by myself, on a weekend – I remember it was a Saturday morning, and I was excited to spend the day there reading some English novels and magazines. The library is really amazing, you know, the exterior is striking（外观引人注目）. The façade looks like layers of books that are stacked randomly（外立面就像是书籍一层层随机堆叠起来）. In the middle of the building, there's a tall glass atrium that slices all the way through the building（一个高大的玻璃中庭贯穿了整个建筑）. So it feels like you can walk directly through to the other side of the plaza（广场） – I think it looks pretty cool.

　　When you first enter, the first thing that stands out is（最先突出的是..） how open and airy（通风的） it feels. There's a lot of natural light too. From the first floor, you can look all the way up to the glass roof（一眼望到玻璃屋顶）, and there are bridges crisscrossing the atrium on different levels（不同楼层间的横梁在中庭相互交错）. I think it's really dynamic, because you can see all the people walking around the library – I guess there must be eight or nine levels altogether.

　　It's fairly easy to navigate too（楼内导航也相当容易） – I found the section I was looking for, and after browsing the shelves awhile（稍作浏览）, I found something that sparked my interest（激发兴趣）. I staked out a good spot（找到了一个好地方）, and spent the rest of the day reading.

　　I really liked going to the library, because the design is iconic（标志性的） – it's kind of a landmark（地标） in Guangzhou. It also has a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, and the collection of books（藏书） there is impressive – you can find whatever you are looking for. I'll definitely be going to the Guangzhou Library again when I have the time.
