　　Modern art exhibition is a great way to showcase artworks from artists all over the world and is usually held in major cities. Compared to modern art, artwork from ancient times are rare to show in public and they are mostly stored in history museums. A couple of weeks ago, I went to visit Nanjing, a historic city that had been the capital of 6 dynasties, from the beginning of the 3rd century to the end of the 6th century. One of the history museums there held an exhibition to display ancient artworks during those 6 dynasties. I was glad that I paid it a visit.

　　The museum is located in the city center of Nanjing and not far from Nanjing Presidential Palace, and is devoted to the period in which Nanjing was the capital of dynasties who ruled over south China from the time period mentioned before. Besides being an era of sword and fires, the 6 dynasties period was also an ear of poetry and wine. It embraces culture and arts, unprecedented prosperous Buddhist culture, and innovative science and technologies. The culture during those times shows a lot of free-spirited thoughts, and the lead celebrities were with great talents and extraordinary personalities. Arts during this period, broke the more than 400 years of mind control of the Han dynasty, respecting individuality and displaying a vivid and unconventional style. The exhibition showed a lot of culture objects through archaeological findings, such as calligraphies, paintings, sculptures, jewelleries and potteries. The exhibition also displays stories about the cultural celebrities, authors of great literature, and famous philosophers for those who don’t know much about the history behind these artwork.

　　I think the exhibition has a great educational value and I saw teams of primary and high school students came visit the exhibition with their teachers. Seeing real objects is a great way to learn about culture and history of ancient times and will make learning history much more interesting. Without visiting this exhibition, I would not be interested in knowing, not to mention memorizing, the fact that during the 6 dynasties， arts were no longer just a means for God worshiping, but a tool for people to express their feelings freely。
