　　Describe a time when it was important to tell your friend a truth

　　And explain why do you feel it’s important to tell your friend the truth

　　这是一道描述真实经历的题目，但因为很多同学翻译时直接将“Truth”译为“实话”，导致理解为“含有欺瞒成分的话”，但事实上“Truth”可以理解为“真相/事实”。

　　综上，我们将要描述的这件事情可以是一件基于真实事情的建议，但是这件事情最好不要太过偏离实际，也不能过于平淡，应该和朋友联系起来。

　　1）Who is your friend

　　这个问题主要是问你描述这件事情的主人公——你的朋友的身份，可以是同学、闺蜜或者其他渠道认识的朋友（也可以说是屠鸭路上认识的陌生好友）。但需要注意的是，我们在介绍朋友的时候一定要记住围绕主题去说，不需要说他的长相、兴趣爱好这些偏离主题的内容。

　　2）When it was

　　这一问主要在于描述你和朋友认识是时间，这是一个较为简单也较难的点，因为时间长短关系到你和朋友之间友情的升温基础，需要考虑上下文的关系，如果无法提供确切的时间点，可以用时间久远为由，比如several years ago, 3 and a half years ago等等。

　　3）What it was

　　这个问题需要说明你要向朋友描述的事情内容，这也是整个回答的关键和主旨，且这件事一定是能对朋友或者自己的生活造成一定影响的事，也就是说不能过于平淡。但一定要注意要把这件事情和朋友联系上，并说清楚朋友和这件事情的关系。

　　4）And explain why do you feel it’s important to tell your friend the truth

　　最后一个问需要解释这个实情对朋友重要性，也就是说，无论阐述的这个实情是发生在自己身上的事还是朋友身上的事，一定要表明这件事和朋友有很深的联系。

　　我们可以倒着去想问题，先想这个事件为什么重要，再想这个事件是什么，先弄清楚如果这个事件不告诉当事人的话后果是什么，再去补充其他细节，这就是我们经典的“黄金圈思维法则”。

　　A time when I told my friend an important truth happened when I was in high school. Cathy and I were dorm mates as well as best friends then.

　　As far as I remember, almost all my classmates were worried about their performance in the final exam but my best friend Cathy was quite excited since she was going to take a holiday abroad with her family when this semester ended. Although she was equally nervous about the results, she didn't want to be disturbed by the feeling of fear. I was the class monitor and I could get the results one night before they were declared to the whole class. Unfortunately, Cathy’s result was obviously not up to her expectations.

　　At first, I was wondering whether I should keep her poor grades confidential as she was filled with joy regarding her trip. And finally, I didn’t make a phone call although it was an important thing to let her informed because what’s more important was her joyful state of mind at that time.She is my best friend, and I would be the last person to see her lose a great deal of joy no matter for what kind of reasons even if the expense is to conceal something or lie.
