　　1) Do people have different opinions about art? Why?

　　Yes. Art is accessed and seen differently by people. Different people have different views of art and consider different things as art, and also value and appreciate art differently. This is mostly because art is personal to individuals. Each person sees art the way they want to see it. And each person relates art to their personality, emotion, personal life experience when discussing art.

　　2) Why are some artwork expensive？

　　One of the reasons is that the artist who created the artwork is no longer alive anymore. The value of art increases significantly after the artist passes away, because it makes that piece exclusive and more important. Artwork lives to tell the story of the artist and that immortalizes the artist. Another reason is that artwork is viewed as an investments by wealthy people, and when they donate the artwork to museums, their names will be mentioned next to the artwork. That is why artwork is so valuable.

　　I think there are a wide range of factors that motivate collectors when it comes to collecting paintings. Many collectors like to accumulate possessions that no one else has, while others like to collect to further embrace their hobby. Decorating their home space is also a major reason people like to collect famous paintings – collectors like to live with their art and let paintings be part of their homes. In addition, many collectors feel a kinship with a certain artist because of their background, style, or life story. Collectors tend to avidly follow the artist’s journey and acquire famous paintings from the artist.

　　I think art brings various value to our daily life. First, art offers an escape from our everyday life. When we feel overwhelmed, some nature art or a landscape painting in blues and greens can help de-stress and inspire us. Second, studies also show that art can also help people heal, and that is why some hospitals and medical centres introduced art to their environments. Third, since art is a way to share what we feel and interpret what we see, looking at art allow us to exercise critical thinking and experience even a deeper connection to others and their experience.
