　　In many countries, traditional foods are being replaced by international fast foods and this is having a negative effect on both families and societies. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

　　There is no doubt that in this day and age, a larger number of individuals are consuming international fast foods rather than their own traditional foods. This has various positive and negative effects on families and societies, which will be further explored.

　　On the one hand, fast food allows citizens of all walks of life, despite nationality or gender, to enjoy some of the tastiest recipes that chefs from various pockets of the globe have created. International cuisines also give families an opportunity to try new foreign food together and sample the tastes and cultures of various countries, which could spice up their culinary lives. With respect to the social implications, international fast food restaurants hire a great number of workers, stimulating economic growth in the communities they exist in by providing jobs and income for the local people.

　　On the other hand, the consumption of international fast foods has exacerbated an alarming trend of creating more obese populations in societies that have tended to have relatively healthy local foods. Furthermore, numerous children in countries all over the world are becoming addicted to these oil-drenched, fatty foods that have a negative contribution on their bodies and leads to greater health risks such as high blood pressure and obesity. These companies have singlehandedly created a shift in the eating habits of youngsters, leading to an increase in arguments between children and parents about what to have for meals. Last but not least, the rise in the intake of foreign food has caused intense competition between companies, leading to fewer profits for local restaurants.

　　All in all, the worldwide spread of international fast food has created positive and negative effects on society and families. Nevertheless, it is my view that the benefits of having a variety of foods to sample as well as job creation and the spread of culture outweigh the disadvantages.
