　　I’d like to talk about my favorite Chinese singer-songwriter, Mao Buyi. He doesn’t have an English name and the fans just call him his nickname, Mao mao, which sounds quite adorable.

　　Mao Buyi was trained as a nurse befere taking up singing. It was his unique personal traits and outstanding talent in songwriting that set him apart from his rivals in ‘The Coming One’, a singing competition held in 2017, in which Mao Buyi won the championship and gained millions of fans.

　　Unlike other young idols who are usually active and out-going, Mao Buyi seems to be calm and shy. He looks innocent with his round face and large glasses. In fact, he’s pretty humorous both on stage and in real life. For example, in the final round of the show when standing in front of famous judges, he gawked at them before blurting out ‘Living celebrities!’, causing the juges to laugh loudly. Also, in an interview when asked ‘why do you think you are so popular?’, he answered honestly, ‘because of the operation of my boss’. That’s so funny, isn’t it? His reaction is always natrual but fun, and that’s one reason why I like him.

　　As a fan of Mao Buyi, I admire him mainly because of his musical talents. Basically, his songs belong to pop and folk. His smoky voice, touching melody and beautiful lyrics, enable his original songs to strike a chord among audiences. Lots of people, including pop singers and entertaining stars, would be moved to tears by Mao Buyi’s performance.

　　I hope the pandemic wil end soon, then I can go to his concert.
