雅思口语

  Part3

1.Should big companies be punished more seriously if they break the law?

No, I don’t think so. Some people may argue that the big companies should be punished more severely since their illegal behaviors may have a larger impact on society. For example, if there are serious quality probIems with the food products produced by a local chain business, perhaps half the population in the town would be affected and suffer health issues. It seems that only by imposing harsher punishements on the company can ease the anger of local residents. However, I disagree with this idea since that is not how the law works. In my opinion, every company is equal before the law. All offenders should be punished equally seriously and it has nothing to do with the scale of a company.

  2. Should big companies donate more to charities?

Yes, just like the lines in the famous movie ‘Spider Man’, ‘With great power comes great responsibility’, I believe that big companies should donate more to charities since they are normally the most profitable buisiness in their fields and are more capable of contributing to charity organisations than small enterprises. While the donations can be used to solve global issues like environmental protection and disease prevention, the donators can build a positive public image that is helpful for their development. This is a win-win situation that is beneficial for both parties.

  3. What are the good things about working for a big company?

There can be several advantages to working for a large company. Firstly, the salary offered by big companies is usually better because of their stronger profitability. The benefits may also include perks and bonuses. Secondly, the working environment of large companies can be enjoyable. For example, in tech giants like Google and Apple, employees are allowed to wear comfortable clothes at work, and provided with a wealth of lunch choices. Last but not least, working for a large company is something to be proud of. These businesses may have a long history, top-level perfromance as well as shininng reputation, which are outstanding platforms for young people to build their careers.

4.What are the differences between big companies and small companies?

It is true that big companies are different from small companies in several aspects. The first one I can think of is the speed of decision-making. For large corporations with multilple levels, it would take them considerable time to analysis and disicuss before reaching agreements. In contrast, in smaller companies,  decision-making can be quick because of their flat organisational structure. Another difference is the degree of competition among employees. It is usually more difficult for people to be promoted to a higher position in large companies since there are many competitors, whereas in small organisations, the relationship among team members are more of cooperation.
