　　What I want to describe to you is the most iconic building in Shanghai -- the Oriental Pearl Tower. It is a radio and TV tower. It was the first major project after Pudong's development which opened it up to the outside world. Within 10 years of its completion, it has hosted 295 foreign heads of state and hosted nearly 100 major world conferences and more than 300 large-scale events. It has become an important window for Shanghai's external publicity.

　　The Oriental Pearl Tower is used to carry the radio and TV transmission service of Shanghai. It covers 80 kilometers of radio and TV station transmission. The Oriental Pearl is supported by three large columns and seven inclined columns. It is 342 meters high and has a very good resistance to earthquakes and wind. The Oriental Pearl Radio and TV Tower is one of the first AAAAA tourist attractions in China. The pagoda contains space capsules, a rotating restaurant, an exhibition hall of Shanghai's urban history, and other scenic facilities. It is a must-visit place for outsiders when they come to Shanghai.
