　　1.Why do their parents let their children play puzzles?

　　Parents let their children play with puzzles because they believe that this is beneficial to their development. Firstly, puzzles are perfect tools to build concentration muscles in kids. Working on puzzles until completion gives kids the chance to focus on one task, uninterrupted, which helps to develop their focus and patience. Secondly, toddlers can learn to recognize shapes through playing puzzles. This skill helps kids learn letters and numbers effectively. Finally, during the process of putting a jigsaw puzzle together, children need to organize and assemble the pieces that are all mixed up, which creates a chance to develop problem solving skills that are essential for their future development.

　　2.What kinds of puzzles improve people’s intelligence?

　　I think most kinds of puzzles can improve our cognitive abilities and boost our intelligence, like Crossword, Sudoku, Jigsaw, etc. Solving puzzles is beneficial for people from all age groups. Playing daily crossword puzzles can grow children’s brain capacity and enhance their memory, enabling young students to learn more efficiently. Also, studies show that puzzles increase verbal skills as well as cut dementia risks, a simple game of crossword every day can improve mental functions in adults and rapidly aging individuals.

　　3.Why are detective stories attractive to people?

　　I think the primary reason is that detective stories are entertaining. The exciting and intriguing plotline makes readers engrossed. The feelings of suspense scattered throughout the book keep readers engaged. While this may be a common aspect in other genres, a unique feature of  detective fictions is that they offer readers plenty of information, including scientific facts, deduction skills, and even social skills. When reading detective novels, readers will have to think like a detective to try and figure out the story. Therefore, it makes these books like a thinking exercise which enlightens a reader’s way of thinking and improves his or her deduction skills. In general, detective stories are attractive because of their distinctive features.

　　4.Which do you think is better? A detective movie or its orginal novel?

　　Personally, I think an original novel is better than a movie based on it. When reading a novel, we can use our imagination to analyse the plots, following the thinking of the writer. Although the images of characters and scenes are vague in our mind, the mysterious feeling is just attractive and engaging. However, when the story is adapted to a movie, some original details might be omitted due to the length limit, leaving those who have read the book feel confused and disappointed. Also, the audience may find the movie boring if actors and actresses fail to create roles that are complex in the novel. Poor performance will ruin people’s imagination of the original story. So in gegeral, I prefer to read orginal novels.
